Kefeng Liu
Kefeng Liu (Chinese: 刘克峰; born December 1965), is a Chinese mathematician. He is known for contributions to geometric analysis, particularly the geometry, topology and analysis of moduli spaces of Riemann surfaces and Calabi-Yau manifolds. He is a professor of mathematics at University of California, Los Angeles. He is also the Executive Director of the Center of Mathematical Sciences of ZJU. ==Biography==
Liu was born December 1965 in Kaifeng, Henan Province, China. In 1985, Liu graduated BA in mathematics from the Department of Mathematics of Peking University in Beijing. In 1988, Liu obtained his MA from the Institute of Mathematics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in Beijing.〔(Biography of Kefeng Liu (Baidu.com) ) (In Chinese)〕 Liu then went to study in the USA, and obtained a PhD from Harvard University in 1993 under Shing-Tung Yau.〔(The Mathematics Genealogy Project – Kefeng Liu )〕 From 1993 to 1996, Liu was C. L. E. Moore Instructor at MIT. From 1996 to 2000, Liu was an assistant professor at Stanford University. From 2000 to 2002, Liu was an associate professor at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). In 2002, Liu became a professor at UCLA.〔(Curriculum Vitae of Kefeng Liu )〕 In September 2003, Liu was appointed as the head of mathematical department of Zhejiang University.〔(Professor Kefeng Liu is Appointed as Head of Mathematical Department )〕 Liu is currently the Executive Director of the Center of Mathematical Sciences at Zhejiang University. Liu was named a Frederick E. Terman Fellowship from 1997 until 2001. From 1998 to 2001, Liu held a Sloan Fellowship. In 2002, Liu was a Guggenheim Fellow. Liu was awarded Morningside Gold Medal (2004) and Morningside Silver Medal (1998) at the opening ceremony of International Congress of Chinese Mathematicians.
